With the recent news . . .
. . . it was clearly time to take stock of my Sisters of Battle collection and look at the Minor Order structure I'd come up with and see how many models I needed to buy to fulfill my promise to build a full Minor Order.
I'd already set the number of Seraphim & Zephyrim at 30, made 15 unique metal ones and had the monopose plastics from the starter kit, so I knew I would need to buy 10 of the new plastics (probably two boxes). I'd also guestimated the size of the Order at 200 Sisters - that seemed reasonable for a very-minor Minor Order (not even really an Order . . . ) and come up with a basic structure.
Characters, bikers, vehicles etc. would wait because the first wave is the infantry so how many would I need to complete it? I laid out all my Sisters and counted them - I counted painted ones, partially painted ones, and assembled & based ones (I have more sitting ready to be cleaned up and glued, but I didn't count them).
Bottom line; to build the infantry core I designed (6 squads of 10x Battle Sisters, 3 squads of 6x Celestians, 3 squads of 6x Retributors, and 3 squads of 6x Dominions) I need only 21 models! (5 Sisters Superior, 11 Sisters with Simulacra Imperialis, 2 storm bolters and 3 flamers).
I was actually a little surprised and even disappointed; I didn't really need any of the new models! My plan to get everything I'd need to complete the Order was either really easy (I could probably buy just a single box of basic Sisters and use metals I already had!) or really hard (how would I get so many Simulacra when there are only two in each box?)
So, I thought about it - and decided I'll probably get a couple of boxes of each of the Retributors and basic Sisters and have some fun converting them, and then see where we go from there.
The Order might very well have to expand for the Indomitus Crusade. If I made it 12 units of basic Sisters and 6 each of the specialists . . . .
