Techmarines: 31 October & 2 November 2019

As part of my organization I ordered pieces to complete an older Techmarine, but also (inspired by a comment from someone on the #1HourANight group) I realized I needed more Techmarines in the army. I'd ordered the Iron Hands special character because it is a great model and assembled it with a different shoulder pad.

Master Sergeant Chad & his dudebros: 29 & 30 October 2019

This guy looks like a Chad. His name is Chad, and the footslogging Sanguinary Guard are his dudebros.

Blood Angels: 28 October 2019

I had a few pieces in the bits boxes which I was able to use to get a few partially-painted Blood Angels completely assembled (I'd left backpacks and guns off them to make painting easier ... and then lost them in the intervening years).

Organization: 27 October 2019

More than an hour, no painting, but very productive! I took my Blood Angels models and laid them out in squads and platoons. Years ago I designed a company organization for Marines (based on the Epic game system and different from the organization which was published later) and planned to make a full company of Marines based on it.

There are various holes in the TO, and some models that need pieces to complete (and many more that need painting ... but that is to be expected). I worked out what I needed, made a list, searched the bits boxes, and placed a load of eBay bits orders.

And then I waited :)

Baal Predator: 24 to 26 October 2019

I've had this Baal Predator kitbash sitting around for literally decades, but I pulled it out and finished it off. I think it looks quite nice alongside a few Blood Angels.

Blood Angels Sgt. Orlock: 25 November 2019

I've been kitbashing a Blood Angels Tactical and a Devastator squad together to make heavy weapon troopers, but there are a large number of spare pieces. By raiding the bitz box, I was able to make this guy - a Death Company sergeant I am going to call "Orlock" after Count Orlock the vampire!

RPG: 23 October 2019

More RPG fun this evening, with the party trying to get into the Crystal Citadel and finding it behind an impenetrable void shield . . .

Blood Angels: 20 & 21 October 2019

Stuck some bits together as I was in a bit of a hobby slump and fancied doing something that didn't require a lot of focus.

RPG: 16 October 2019

Another RPG night, and I decided to really go for something I haven't often done with RPGs - models and scenery and measuring. The system I created wasn't designed with models in mind, but works well enough (I think you can get away with "common sense" for such things - you don't need a lot of super-complicated rules about cover and movement and climbing and whatever; it's an RPG, not a wargame, and a more casual approach in what the game is designed for).

So, they had a couple of big fights in a warehouse and met a Sister of Verity penitent!

Cathedra, Cardinal and Reliquary: 12 to 15 October 2019

When I saw the Adeptus Titanicus scenery kits, I realized they could be used to make great little building details - many Catholic altars look like scaled-down cathedrals, so it seemed appropriate to use that in 40K. I used pieces of the kit to add details to my Cathedra tank, and created a large central reliquary (to house the bones of Saint Laertes of Ophelia VII). The idea is that this reliquary can be mounted (using magnets) on the front of the Cathedra tank, on the back of the multi-legged Cardinal Griffin or as the central element of an altar / reliquary I will create from the Adeptus Titanicus kits and use as scenery.

It's all crazy and out of scale - but isn't that part of 40K?

Scaly Arbite: 7 to 11 October 2019

I worked on completing the Scaly Arbite for the RPG; lots of little details and bits of work here. I also worked a little on some details in my World Anvil page related to the Scalies.

Arbitratorum: 5 & 6 October 2019

Although I am running out of superglue (annoying!) I did some more work on the Arbitratorum from Kromlech.

808-RO55 Shield Generator: 29 September - 4 October 2019

A crazy idea I had after getting a Bob Ross chia pet for Christmas - I knew I had to make some sort of scenery piece from it. In coming up with ideas for the RPG, I thought of a scenario where a shield generator would be defended and / or attacked (it might be both) and so I needed a shield generator. As 40K is all about the crazy, I made the Bob Ross statue into a shield generator using various found objects and some tiny disco balls I bought from the dollar store.

I also spent some time writing a (somewhat humorous) background for the generator on my World Anvil page.
