World Anvil: 29 August 2019

As I might have mentioned before, I started a World Anvil page which has all the background and fanon information for my 40K armies and characters. I've been writing it gradually, but today I didn't get painting done so I counted some work on it for that! And, look! I get to add a new label to my blog! :)

The characters (minus the Uber-driver, who was "nursing back to health" the pretty resistance fighter he "saved" last session while his player was busy) continued in the investigation of who set them up. In the process, they met a Sister Hospitalier with a penchant for lho-sticks and amasec who has weaponized cynicism.

The Wife's Basement: 23 August 2019

The basement of our new house is like a pair of lungs and my wife has one side and I the other; her side was used as storage for several months but we have been working on it over the last few days. Today, I built some furniture and helped her set it all up - so I had no time for my own hobby :( But, soon we will both have hobby space and we can hobby together in our nice new spaces!

With an injured hand and working to get my wife's side of the basement finished, I really didn't get as much time as I would have liked to work on things. But, I did manage to assemble some Kromlech statues and put together a coffee table for my gaming space.

Yes, I am scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Even with my wounded hand, I assembled a cool little piece of Kromlech scenery and painted it (mostly rattlecans, TBH, but it looks cool!)

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

The path to salvation lies through a thicket of pain!
While installing floor for my wife on the 15th, I managed to hang my thumb over the straightedge and made a nice deep slash in my thumb. The tip of it was hanging like a Pez dispenser and there was a lot of blood and numbness. Nice people at the local urgent care put four stitches in while laughing at my jokes and all is well. But; no real hobby either that day or the next - no real pain, but the bandage makes it hard to do detail work. I did, however, finish the floor!

Sgt. Rex the Scaly: 13 & 14 August 2019

Sergeant Rex of the Ophelia VII Pacification and Ordinary Legal Instructions Compliance Executive  is getting ready for duty! A character from the RPG I am running, Rex is a Scaly but I didn't like the original models so this is a conversion of a River Troll Fellwater Troggoth and a Werecrocodile from Reaper. Not much time for hobby as I have been installing a floor for my wife.

Bunker: 12 August 2019

The Kromlech MDF kits have a load of off-cuts left over which if you save them, can be judiciously used to add detail to things. This bunker started off life as a chunk of styrofoam packing - all I did was glue it to a base, slap on a coat of DIY-textured paint and glue on some MDF scraps. It still needs some more work, but now at least it doesn't look totally plain.

Hive City Chapel: 10 & 11 August 2019

Two days' work and two pictures; I got the chapel finished (I also assembled Sister Amalia Novena - again; I had the model sitting in the wrong place because I bought it on hiatus!)

Cardinal of Ophelia: 9 August 2019

Another case of "I bought these pieces during my hiatus and I just found the box". This was something I was immediately inspired to do when I saw the Lord Discordant - a sort of weird, multi-legged clergyman with the body of the new Dark Apostle. He is going to make an appearance in the RPG - in fact, this model has inspired a lot of the plot I am going to use for that game!

I think pretty much every Blood Angels player has done it, but I bought parts to make Sanguinary Guard with Stormcast bodies. Mostly, I worked on these just because I found the parts stuffed in a box and wanted to get them sorted out before packing them away where they should go!

RPG: 7 August 2019

No painting or gluing tonight, but the welcome return of Heroes & Heretics and a fun evening of roleplaying! Busted out the models and tabletop scenery to handle the combat and - as it happens - the system works really well for that!

During the move between houses, I took advantage of a 20% off coupon from Kromlech and ordered some nice scenery to round out my table. Tonight, I started assembling it!

Intermediate Period!

As mentioned previously, I have been moving in a new house. I'd hoped to make some posts as the process went along, but I really didn't get around to it. My hobby materials were all packed away and so I couldn't do any hobby for a long time. We moved in early May, and everything remained in boxes for a long time while I worked on the basement that would become my hobby area. I had to build walls, lay a floor and build furniture before I could unpack - and with everything else involved in moving house, that was a slow process. The following pictures show some of the process.

               

So, there it is! The space obviously isn't completed yet, but I have made the gaming table and set up the boards and scenery I made, as well as getting my desk built and setting the paints and so forth out. I also have a small sitting area for roleplaying or other social activities.
