Roleplaying: 29 June 2018

We don't use those dice, but maybe we should - they show death and swords and imply a complete derailing of the GM's carefully-constructed game . . .

Friday nights are RPG nights, and we play Heroes & Heretics, my home-brew system which can (in theory) be used to play any game you like, but which we've been using to play a 40k-set game. And so tonight our brave heroes journeyed into the Worm Spoil hive of Necromunda and slaughtered some innocent Van Saars owning to a failure to grasp the GM's exceedingly clear clues . . .

Sisters of the Chalice: 27 June 2018

Well, Sister - singular. And not even her. Just glued some legs onto a base. I just wanted to be able to say I'd done something, you know?

"Necrons": 26 June 2018

I will not make a blue-balls, joke. I will not make a blue-balls joke. I will not . . .

Armiger Warglaive: 25 June 2018

Some work with a spraycan. I decided to go with a gold chassis rather than a silver or gunmetal, just to see what it would look like.

Armiger Warglaive: 24 June 2018

I did some work on the second Armiger, adding hands from the 15mm Dreamforge Leviathan and a torn-out steel beam.

"Necrons": 23 June 2018

The gold, bone and black on the Necrons is complete and I slapped the staining wash on the top of them.

"Necrons": 22 June 2018

I returned to the "Necrons" (constructs of the Crystal Lady) and got some gold down on them.

Necromunda Scenery: 21 June 2018

Slowly slogging through the Necromunda terrain when I can't be bothered to do anything that requires actual thought . . . :)

Throne Agent Palatine Alicia Laertes: 19 June 2018

I finished my converted Sister of Battle character, with her Blood Angel axe, Astartes'-blood stain on her robes, and carnodon cloak.

Red!: 18 June 2018

I put some red (and some other colors, but mostly red) on a bunch of models . . . I had it on the palette and I had a lot of WIPs and I didn't want to waste the paint!

Wedding!: 15-17 June 2018

(There are few weddings in 40K; Grayskull's piece of fanart of Amberley Vail & Ciaphas Cain enjoying a quiet moment seemed the nearest we might get to it!)

I didn't get to do any hobby this weekend - I was at a wedding on Friday, a graduation on Saturday and Sunday I was feeling under the weather and was taking care of the wife (and then, when I was going to have some time in the evening, I was called away!)

Alas!

Blood Angels color tests: 13 June 2018

A little bit of color experimentation for Blood Angels - I think I like my old method (white undercoat, red base, wash of dark red - very simple indeed) rather than this (red undercoat, dark wash, red wetbrush) better.

Well, live and learn.

Raging Heroes Sisters of the Chalice: 12 June 2018

A bit of assembly tonight, of the Raging Heroes Sisters of the Chalice. These are their Terminator equivalents. A lot has been said about Raging Heroes - the overt sexism, the weird proportions, the fact they are GW knock-offs that don't quite match with the figures they knock off.

I did not buy any of the "normal" RH Sisters, because the armor design is different to the GW ones (and plastics are coming!) but I bought these to use as a special unit (they are going to be the "Pillars of Verity", the force that defends the statue at the peak of the mountain).

They are very tall, as you can see, but most of that size is in the legs. They have very narrow waists and heavy legs - the proportions are not so much wrong (although they are "wrong") as different. I am not sure if the proportions are any "worse" than GW or any other manufacturer - rather, they are simply "differently exaggerated". They look weird next to GW figures because of this, not because they themselves are any more exaggerated or weird. It is like seeing a Wayne England figure inside a John Blanche drawing - both look good on their own, but together the effect is jarring.

Nurgle's Gifts!: 8 & 9 June 2018

Grandfather Nurgle blessed me with a sickness! I slept for five hours during the day on Friday and was feeling under the weather (and busy as all get out with work) on Saturday, so I did nothing! Alas!

Hobby with Friends: 6 June 2018

The first two images are not mine - they are the work done this evening done by the friends I am introducing to Warhammer 40,000. The lower image is my War Pulpit from Raging Heroes, almost completely assembled (I did that while they did other things). Hobby together is fun!

Raging Heroes preparation: 4 June 2018

My order from Raging Heroes (one of their pre-release exclusive packs of the War Pulpit and ten of the not!Terminator not!Sororitas) arrived, and so I spent the hour this evening sorting it out, checking it was all there and making sure there were no problems with the casting.
